What is the TNS Trapped Neutrophil Syndrome ?
The TNS is a disease of the immune system that is specific to the Border Collie. The neutrophils are correctly produced and mature properly however they are not released into the bloodstream. Thus, the immune system is less effective. The first symptoms can be observed in puppies as early as 2 weeks old and they are usually euthanized before the age of 1 month. The symptoms included loss of appetite, diarrhea and a poor mobility.
