Colortest CColorpoint restriction

The locus C and the TYR-gene are responsible of a reduction of the melanin production in the cat coat color. The typical coat color are those that we observed in the siamese and burmese cats. The body is clear color like white or pale whereas the body extremities are pigmented : the tail, the limbs and the mask. C (full colour) is dominant to cb (Burmese) which is dominant to cs (Siamese) which is dominant to c (albino).

The cb allele results in changing black pigments to sepia and orange pigments to yellow.

The combination of cb/cs allele result in the mink coat color.

The mutation c.901G˃A is responsible of the siamese coat color (cs), while the c.679G˃T mutation is responsible to the burmese coat color (cb).
