A simpler blood sample
For the FIV and FeLV test we need a tiny amount of blood.
Take blood
The simplest method is to take a tiny drop of blood from the ear. This operation is painless since cats have very few nerve endings in the ear.
Before, make sure your cat’s ear is not too cold. If this is not the case, hold your ear in your hands for about a minute.
The sample is most often taken at the inner edge of the ear (the blood vessels are numerous).
To do the sampling, you can simply rub the ear with the nail until a micro drop of blood appears (a few seconds).
Then allow the drop of blood to run on the circle of the blood collection kit.
The second method is to cut the nail millimeter by millimeter and let a drop of blood flow over the circle of the collection kit.

If the cat bleeds a little bit, you can apply a coagulant like hydrogen peroxide or aluspray available in your pharmacy or veterinarian.
